Saving Stray Cats in Punta Cana

Punta Cana's beauty hides a terrible crisis: while visitors love its year-round warm weather and turquoise-colored beaches, street animals suffer due to uncontrolled reproduction and abrupt displacement caused by rapid tourist development.

Every day, dozens of stray cats go hungry, are run over by trucks, contract parasites and illness from unsanitary conditions, become unnecessarily pregnant, or die from territorial fighting.

Urban poisoning still happens here, a product of massive ignorance. It is done by heartless neighbors and developers. It often goes unpunished.

This has to stop.

We’re taking action.

Your contribution can help fund these initiatives:

1. Trap-Neuter-Return-Feed & Monitor stray cats in urban communities - we want to give cats hope for a good life. (Last year, our group of friends TNRFM’d over 85 stray cats.)
2. Facilitate international adoptions to Europe and the United States - we want to change cat’s and people's lives for good. (Last year, we adopted out 2 happy cats to the USA and 9 happy cats to the European Union.)
3. Sponsor treatment for injured kittens - we want to heal common conditions such as parasitosis, bone fractures, and mange, so cats can live with dignity. (To date, we have helped fix more than 20 cases of illness.)
4. Educate the community - We want to teach responsibility, and raise awareness of the social benefits that result from caring for a homeless animal. We know that compassionate action results in decreased stress levels, community bonding, and an increased happiness index. (We have achieved countless examples of this at all social levels- from gardeners to security guards to owners of mega-mansions. Our method WORKS!)

Our goal is to trap, sterilize, heal, feed, heal, and save 100 homeless cats in 2024.

Our goal is to send as many eligible cats as possible for local and international adoption because we know this is their best chance of a great life. We’re targeting 20 cats in 2024.

Our goal is to educate.

Since 2019, Cat Lovers Punta Cana has sterilized 350+ cats, prevented countless kittens from inhumane conditions, and facilitated 100+ successful adoptions in the DR and worldwide. We educate the community to ensure people understand, respect, and care for stray cats as well as their own.
