I am starting this fund raiser in attempt to save a piece of classic American history from being forgotten forever. I have and am currently restoring a 1963 GMC stepside pickup truck. I Have put a lot of my own money into this truck, and working two jobs still isn't enough to get this project completed. Although some progress has been made, there is still so much work left to do. I am a combat Veteran with 8 years serving this country as a United States Marine and i want to keep this piece of American history alive before things like this can no longer be found outside a museum. This truck comes from an era when everything was made right here in the U.S.A. An era when things were built to last, not made out of synthetics and plastic. So few of these trucks even exist anymore and the ones that are restored aren't driven and shared with the world, they are locked away in someone's private collection. Thats what i want to change. I want to get this 1963 truck back to the look it had when it rolled off the line built by American hands, with parts made in America. I want to drive this truck everywhere, educating this new generation in the history of American Muscle, showing that cars and trucks can be both transportation and works of art. I hate seeing these works of art lost to some private collector, never to be driven again, reduced to nothing more than a museum piece.
My ultimate goal is to get this truck fully restored so that i can drive it to different car shows and enter them so that while i'm at these events I can bring awareness to charities and projects that mean a lot to me. Organizations like the Wounded Warrior Fund, I.A.V.A, The Veterans Administration, P.T.S.D research and so many more that need more awareness than ever before. Any help at all with this will be more than appreciated. I know there are tons of different people all wanting to raise money for different causes, this is just my attempt to make a small change to the better.
