On January 10th, father (Shoua T. Yang) had a major stroke while visiting families and friends in Xieng Khuang Province, Laos. He was transported to North-East Wattana General Hospital in Udon Thani, Thailand, where he underwent surgery to stop the bleeding and reduce the pressures in his brain.
As of February 2, 2016, his condition has not improved and he is still in a state of coma in the intensive care unit of the hospital. He has trouble breathing and lost a lot of weight due to the inability to eat and proper nutrition. All expenses have to be paid in cash and are rapidly piling up because he requires critical care. We had hope to pay for the expenses and bring him home on February 2nd. However, due to his current condition, we were informed that he is unable to travel unless it is through a commercial stretcher flight that will cost anywhere from $35,000 to $85,000.
Due to the high cost of the medical expenses, this is going to be a challenge for the family and has exhausted their personal savings paying the medical expenses. The mother is constantly worried and pray that he wakes up from his coma so he can come home. I want to make her dream a reality but due to the flight cost, it is difficult. The thought that our father is thousands of miles away and we cannot do anything for our mother but only hope he gets better make us helpless.
This father of many is an active community member who selflessly give to others in need. Now that he needs help, we are hoping that he will receive the kindness he had shown others in the past. We are asking for donation to help bring him home so he can be close to his beloved wife and families in the US. Any amount ($25, $50, $100, $1,000 or whatever you can contribute) will be greatly appreciated.
