This is a fundraiser for the restoration and repair of the Central Point Cemetery located at 4900 Hamrick Road in Central Point, Oregon. This historic 7.5 acre gravesite is recorded to have had its first burial in 1866, and as recently as 2005. This cemetery has no municipal or private funding to pay for maintenance and improvements. So it is up to community members and charitable donors to help fund the restoration and repairs that are desparately needed. But this fundraiser will be helping to restore something much more important: the dignity of these souls who have passed away and that of their surviving family members. In 2011, a devastating incident of vandalism destroyed and damaged many of the grave stones and markers in this cemetery, and despite efforts to use funds from the legal restitution of the case, the repairs and restoration promised, has not been carried out. The only landscape maintenance that has been done periodically by some small groups of caring Central Point residents.   We are hoping to raise $30,000 for fencing materials for the cemetery boundary, a maintenance shed on the grounds, lawn and gardening tools, weedeaters, lawnmowers, leafblowers, planting soil, and grass seed. And for the grave markers, the specialty cleaning products and supplies for restoring the stones and the epoxy adhesive to reattach the detached and broken stones, and any remaining funds to replace headstones with new ones if they are beyond repair. We are also hoping to solicit willing volunteers who are masons or landscapers to help with their volunteer time to complete this project. Anything you can contribute will be considered a great blessing.
