Lucky is a husky mix and was born Feburary 6, 2011 while I took my 3 boys trick or treating my husky had puppies.

My oldest son (Cameron) had just lost his dog to old age and begged to keep one of the puppies. Finally I gave in and he kept Lucky, Cameron has dreams of becoming a dog handler for the military and works on training Lucky daily, when he is upset I generally find him and Lucky in the back yard playing together, he talks to Lucky they sleep in the same bed at night and Lucky had become part of our family and our protector. He kept a burglar from entering our house while I was showering one day and kept my neighbor's pit bull from attacking my boys. The night before last he saw something in our yard and pushed the screen out of the window.

My other son's dog, Ruby, followed him out and when my boys woke up they were going to go find their dogs but the dogs were waiting at our door. Ruby was circling Lucky to protect him from something (we don't know what) we noticed that Lucky was bleeding and tried to clean him up, my son was heart broken because he was bleeding from his eye and we couldn't get the bleeding to stop. I did what any good parent would do I made an appointment with the vet and I took my son and his dog to try and get help. Once we got there the diagnosis was worse than we expected and the vet was worried we wouldn't be able to save his eye so she sent us to a specialist an hour away. We loaded up and went and they put him in emergency surgery to remove his eye. They now said they are worried about infection and may need a second surgery, I used the money I was saving to buy a new furnace for my house (as ours went out 2 winters ago) to pay for the first surgery because I can't imagine the heartbreak it would cause my son to lose his best friend. The only thing that really gets him thru tough times. I know God always provides a way so I can only trust that he will this time as well, and that is why we are reaching out to you too ask that you kind hearted animal loving people help us in our time of need to save our Lucky, our friend and our protector.
