In year 2002, the word Animal Welfare was unheard of in China. With a heart filled with compassion for suffering animals in China, Ms. Ha devoted herself together with her million Yuan assets into rescuing dogs, cats and other animals in distress. With No financial help from government or businesses, Ms. Ha led some friends who have same love for animals through fourteen years of labor to keep the shelter going. The shelter was forced to move many times, because of financial difficulties, neighboring complains, and misunderstandings. L Cash shelter never gave up hope through all the hardship and holds onto the belief that the shelter will Not fail the animals. Number of animals in shelter has grown from 80 dogs at the beginning to over 10000 animals today.
Currently, we move to Stone Buddha Temple office while we are waiting for new location. Strays need to be sent to Nanjing police station at Pu Zhu Mid road. Strays can also be sent to other local stations, and notify us. We can come to pick up. Thanks for everyone who accompanied us on our road of rescue.
This is our office at downtown, a central location for rescues and medical treatments of injured or abused. Most cats and dogs here are elders, weak, sick or paralyzed. They are here to receive treatments, being observed, examined and be in the process of healing. After they are fully recovered, they will be moved to the base shelter in the countryside. At the same time, if animals in the countryside base shelter need medical attention, they will be transferred here. Staff and volunteers take turns keeping things going . The building has separate spaces for guest reception, animal boarding , critical condition room and veterinarian clinic.
The shelter’s countryside location In town of XingDian , is about 50 acres and 40 miles away from the city. 10000 animals are living here . There are 7 dog boarding areas (124 Lucky yard, GuiYan Rescue yard, Pengbu Rescues yard and other four numbered yards) and a new cat house. Each dog and cat is analyzed in terms of size, temper and age before being arranged in the corresponding boarding area. Regular care takers work in these boarding sections to ensure the food refill and other chores are well performed. The new cat house was finished in spring of 2015 after two years of building. There are three stories in the cat house. The first two floors are living area and highest floor is balcony.
The first Saturday of each month is the open house day. Visitors who like to help are led by volunteers and get an assignment such as breaking buns, cleaning cat house, giving eye drops to cats, feeding dogs, trimming nails and hair, giving bath or shooting pictures for the animals, etc.
Companies or schools can organize a visit to the shelter
Families with intention of adopting a cat or dog are guided by volunteers to have a better knowledge of the residents here.
L Cash shelter organizes different outdoor events to promote scientific raising of pets and encourage citizens to adopt and not buy. Volunteers from different districts come to work at these events and some organizations also contribute.
One of our missions is to find a forever family for adoptable ones. In 2016, we are increasing our efforts for adoption by setting up adoption teams of volunteers in different districts which makes house visiting more convenient and speeds up the adoption process.
In L Cash, every animal we host is like our family. Therefore we have a strict adoption policy. After receiving an application, one thing we will do is that one of our long term volunteers will give home visits. Because we are very short handed right now and international adoption is very complicated, we can't support international adoptions for now. Tank you for understanding.
