The most precious journey a women takes is bringing children into this world. The sweet rewards you gain from pregnancy to their first steps. My sister was blessed with twins and a healthy pregnancy. Unfortunately due to complications of Pre-eclampsia she was rushed to have an emergency c-section just past 26 weeks. This is where her beautiful journey took a turn for the worst and became the most challenging, frightening and testing moments of her life. After 66 days in NICU with ample setbacks we welcomed home two beautiful girls that once weighed only 1.1kg and 1,5kg.

The first few months were dedicated to expressing and feeding them every three hours. Not everyone knows the behind the scenes of being dedicated and proud parents to micro premie babies. Not everyone knows that between all the hospital stays my sister had to continue her cake business to meet financial burdens. Imagine doing 10-15 novelty cakes a weekend after a c-section and still expressing, traveling between Queenstown and East London taking turns to be there for their babies.

At 8 months the smaller twin was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. We honestly had no idea what to expect. We still imagined a close to normal life just with many challenges, however as time passed we got a more accurate diagnosis. Sarah was diagnosed with spastic Quadrapligic cerebal pasly. At the age of 3 she is still unable to sit, crawl, walk and is non-verbal. She also has cortical blindness, suffers from epilepsy and has to use stool loosing medication everyday. As a family we have done our best to develop her to her full potential. We still have hope that one day she will be more independent and get to enjoy the more simpler things in life that we may take for granted. At this stage caring for Sarah costs alot. Her mom still continues to do cakes however has a second job to meet all financial requirements for Sarah. This unfortunately means that she only sleeps 5 hours a day. She is constantly working 7 days a week and doesn’t have any time at all for her family. I have created this page to help find some relief. If you feel you can contribute with prayers, items or even small sponsors it will help in the biggest way you could never imagine. All funds will help to increase Sarahs therapy, assist with monthly expenses but also take my sister back to that beautiful journey of parenting and family.
