Pay it forward - Sanctuary of Support, Healing and Freedom
Supporting, empowering and giving hope to people during tough times...
Be part of the movement to give an interim home to those in need. These people may be in financial difficulty and need a temporary place to stay while they address their finances, abused people and animals requiring a place to stay, children who have no place to turn to when there is domestic violence at their house, individuals looking for a place to rent/buy but require somewhere to stay in the meanwhile, persons who are going through a divorce and have nowhere to live, any individual who merely needs a time out to focus on their health, self development, fitness etc.
Included in providing housing and support to those in need, we assist individuals to gain the life skills they need to build the foundations for independent living.
Interim supportive housing combines shelter and supportive services to live in a stable and productive environment. When accepted to this program, residents have access to an array of services such as counseling, addiction recovery meetings, health services, and job training. This housing also emphasizes residents living a social, healthy, and active lifestyle with various activities offered.
This is a project very close to my heart... I am passionate about empowerment, healthy lifestyle and self development. I have encountered many people that are ready, willing and determined to change their lives in these areas. Often there are people who due to their living situation(s) they are confined, restricted and/or being abused , therefore most times unable to find another place to stay to focus on their own development. What this movement will provide is support, guidance and safety to build themselves up until they are able to make it out there in the world again.
I can relate to this personally too, as I'm sure most of us have those times (days or months perhaps) where we just need some support, someone to help us, a place to stay where we can work on ourselves, heal from trauma and simply be in a safe space. Somewhere that provide's that space for those challenging times, without distraction and the drama going on in our personal lives…
I know that by opening the doors of this support sanctuary, the individuals who stay here will receive the support and freedom they require to be empowered and once making it, will be able to sponsor the next person's stay.
Right now, we have gathered together an amazing network of individuals who are ready to support this cause in terms of coaching, healing, nutrition, legal matters, self development, education and more.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
We are passionate about people, self-development and empowerment! As mentioned above, our team will offer support in terms of food, accommodation, counselling, legal advice/representation, holistic healing, nutrition, exercise, education, self-development and more.
We will offer a secure and supportive home to stay in for up to 2 months at a time. In order to keep the home self-sustaining, we request that guests show their appreciation by partaking in supporting the sanctuary. The following method(s) are available to 'pay it forward' and help us help more people:
- once an individual leaves the home, they contribute money for accommodating the next person
- There will be a vegetable garden which will be maintained by the guests and will provide daily food for the household
- while staying at the home, assist in various duties to keep running costs low (cooking, gardening, cleaning, tutoring children, driving etc)
- those skilled in certain areas to join our database to be contacted if they wish to support the sanctuary as well as to ensure that they are supported once they leave
WHERE WE ARE
The site is currently an old house situated in Blairgowrie, Randburg (Johannesburg).
This house was being renovated - however had not been completed for over a year - and has now been offered to us as a venue for the Sanctuary.
Please see images below (We will continue updating pics until we are ready to open our doors)
WHERE YOUR DONATION WILL BE GOING
Your contribution(s) will support us to complete the building of the sanctuary.
Please note: Below is a breakdown of the main items included in the estimated cost of completing the home.
If there are any individuals who would like to donate new or used items from the list below, this will be highly appreciated as it will reduce the required funds for completion of the home.
Once the home is ready, we aim to run it in a manner that is self sustaining and does not rely on donations to accommodate guests.
