safe reliable family car

Like most family's we get by on what we have and make the best of it. we are a family of 5 my self, my partner and three children 16,10 and 7 so rely heavily on our car for school run's, getting to work, after school activity's and hopefully getting out the house on the weekend. We live on what we earn meaning we get paid, we pay the bills, buy the weekly food shop and that's it, nothing left over. so we cant afford a nice new reliable family car, the car we currently have is 18 years old and requires constant maintenance, parts and repairs which obviously costs money we do not have so end up in debt over parts, labour and out right buying another car with a loan. now I think my self a proud man and don't like having to ask anyone for anything but things have got out of hand and things have to change. I feel if we have a better more reliable car we could save a lot of money by not getting it fixed every two minutes or taking out loans to buy new ones and could start getting our self's out of debt. I'm not looking for a brand new top of the line car, just something under 10 years old, reliable with 7 seats and wont fall apart and need constant maintenance.
