I wont beat around the bush - this is shameless begging for money.
Every few years I try and do a big race to raise funds for charity or a worthy cause and this year I have picked a doozy of a race.
Firstly, the charity -
I will be running under the Traderoot Active brand for their campaign, Ride/Run for a child.
The mission statement is to give back to South Africa and its youth by promoting education and self-confidence in children.
Traderoot have partnered with Brightstart who do the screening and select viable candidates for the program. There is so much more to education then just throwing in money for school fees, together we take a more holistic approach to ensure that mom and dad are on board that they will help with homework and to ultimately create an environment where a young mind can thrive at home as well as in the class.
Please read more about this wonderful cause on their Facebook page (Traderoot Active).
Secondly, the race -
Michelle du Plessis and I will be tackling AfricanX.
I have done plenty of half marathons and even a few triathlons, so I picked a race that not many people would do - AfricanX takes guts, training and full commitment, you can't just show up and get it done.
It is a multistage race set over 3 days in the mountains of Grabouw - in those 3 days we will cover over 90km's each.
You can read more about it on the race page below.

We have paid for all race costs and accommodation out of our own pockets, all we ask is that you donate some money towards the education and growth of underprivileged children.
We do the hard work - you kindly donate
its that easy.
