God has placed a special calling on my life as a way to serve Him. Before a few months ago, I never expected God to call me to share His Good News through long distance running.
I am seeking to finance an opportunity to share the Gospel in the state of Washington. Ultimately, I will be able to share His message of grace and restoration by running in the Boston Marathon.
Your support will help me run for God’s glory and the spreading of His Gospel.
I claim this verse as His vision statement for me: “I know what you’ve been doing. Look! I have put in front of you an open door that no one can shut. You have only a little strength, but you have obeyed my word and have not denied my name.” Revelation 3:8
Briefly, here is my story of little strength and how I want to proclaim Jesus’ name.
About two years ago, God worked in my life in an amazing way as I lost 60 pounds and reached a recommend healthy weight. As I approached this goal, I began praying that He would show me the next step of serving and honoring Him. He clearly spoke to me and showed me an avenue that I had never really imagined. He told me to start training to run marathons and other distance races.
At first, I picked an arbitrary pace for my training based on the fitness level I had in my 20s. You see, I initially envisioned the training as merely a personal goal. However, I noticed that the longer I trained, the faster I became exceeding the pace of my personal goal. By the time I ran my first race, I outpaced my original personal goal by more than 30 total minutes. God had a faster standard in mind that I had set for myself.
Following that first race, I ran some other races of different distances and began earning age group and overall placement awards. God had made me more adept at running and racing than I had imagined for myself. This opened the door to the opportunity to interact with others at both the start and finish lines. I was able to pray His blessings upon others and encourage them in His name. I found that many participants in these races had set running in those races as a lifetime milestone. During these times, the hearts of the people are open to learning about God’s grace and empowerment more than usual.
So, following my second marathon, I began to seek His will for the next step in this growing ministry. Consequently, He placed before me the goal of participating in one of most prestigious annual sporting events in the world: the Boston Marathon.
The Boston Marathon annually attracts literally tens of thousands of runners and spectators. This is an amazing opportunity to be a witness and blessing to a throng of souls who desperately need a Savior. However, for general entry, the Boston Marathon requires specific time standards for each age group from a qualifying race.
God has placed a race before me to attempt to reach the standard for my age group in the Boston Marathon. He has set my focus on a unique race east of Seattle, WA at the end of July. This course offers the opportunity to reach even more people that I would likely never encounter. Essentially, I have the opportunity to share the Good News from sea to shining sea.
I am looking for financial supports to help me and an essential team of supporters travel to this race in Washington. I will run for His glory regardless, but your support includes you in the process as well. I can be a witness for you as to God’s amazing power and grace to those who are seeking fulfillment. Help me to lead others to the Cross of redemption and restoration in Jesus’ name.
I want to run for Him; let me run for you!
