Hi, this is Hannah Tompkins. I am a freshman at Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, TX. I play the French Horn in the Mighty Rebel Band. I have been playing the French Horn since I was in 6th grade. I have competed every year in Solo & Ensemble and have received first division ratings each year. I competed for my first year in the Midland All-City Band and received 1st chair Symphonic. I have attended UH Cougar Band Camp for the past 2 years and will be going to West Texas A&M Band camp this summer. I love my band and my horn!

My band has been selected to perform in the 126th Tournament of Roses Parade in January 2015. This is a great honor and opportunity for our band because lots of marching bands apply each year and only 20 are chosen. The last time our band went was in 1993. The cost of the trip is $2,000 per student. This is a huge expense but it includes my airfare, food, hotel and a few fun things. In addition to the Rose Bowl Parade our band will also have the chance to march through DisneyLand-again a great honor.

I am asking for your support to help send me to Pasadena, CA Dec 28, 2014-Jan 2, 2015. Camps and clinics that I attend for French Horn, Band, Church and Swimming (I swim competitively with COM) all costs lots of money too. Because I am so involved with band, swim and I am in Pre-AP classes it is hard for me to get a job to help pay for my trip - I do babysit & dogsit to earn money.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Sincerly,

Hannah Tompkins
