The Taliban takeover in Afghanistan has led to an influx of hundreds of Hazara refugees in Quetta, Pakistan in the recent weeks. These families have left behind their homes and livelihoods to escape the rising violence under the Taliban's oppressive regime. We are coming to you in desperation to raise funds on behalf of the displaced families who are seeking refuge in Quetta. Currently, there are no emergency relief measures and resettlement efforts in place to help the displaced families. Women and children make majority of these families who are more vulnerable and in need of emergency relief measures.

About the Hazara:

Hazara, an ethnic and religious minority group, have faced systematic and longstanding persecution at the hands of the Taliban as well ISIS. As a minority group, the Hazara ethnicity in Afghanistan faces a dire future under the Taliban leaving thousands at risk of religious and ethnic persecution. During the civil war and Taliban's regime in 1990s, thousands of Hazaras were victims of massacre and ethnic cleansing. As the Taliban takes control of the country once again, fears about similar atrocities abound today as well. On August 19, 2021, Amnesty International reported massacre of nine Hazara men in Ghazni province by the Taliban. These atrocities against ethnic and religious minorities are highly likely to intensify under the Taliban.

Funding:

We have a team of around 12 people who will be assisting us with planning and logistics on the ground.

Our target goal for this fundraiser is $15,000. A high portion of the funds will go towards securing temporary accommodation for each family. The $15,000 ask will provide:

1. Temporary Accommodation (2-3 months minimum)

2. Initial Resettlement Costs (food, medical, etc)

3. Clothing

4. Hygiene products

5. Baby formula

6. Planning and logistics costs for purchase and distribution of supplies

Any overages in funds will be used to assist additional families arriving in Quetta.

Please share! Lives are at stake.
