We have a 5-year-old Rottweiler and we have had him since he was a puppy. His name is Gavin. We had never raised a dog before from being a puppy. As responsible dog owners we enrolled him in training and he did very well. However somewhere along the way things went wrong. He has most recently become aggressive and has bit one of his owners. Our landlords have told us that we need to train our dog or we have to euthanize him. Several non-professionals’ have said to put him down because he is a Rottweiler and they are bad, mean, and aggressive dogs. Well, I want to prove them wrong. We do not believe in ending a dog’s life because they don’t know any better. I believe in rehabilitation and education. I have met with a trainer who agrees that this dog can be successfully rehabilitated, but it is going to be a long and expensive process because Gavin needs to be completely retrained. Unfortunately we do not make a lot of money and I recently lost my job. I do not have the money to help him be rehabilitated. I do not want my 3-year-old son to loose his dog that he loves. I feel that there is another way to help dogs succeed and by giving up and ending his life, it would seem as if he doesn’t matter. I want to be the responsible pet owner and rehabilitate Gavin because it falls onto us (as pet owners) to take care of him and not either kill him or let someone else take him and deal with him when they might not have the same stance on Gavin. We really need your help to raise $4500 for our dog to be housed, groomed, fed, and retrained for 16 hours per day, for at lease 3 months. My wife and I have full trust and believe that the trainer (Chris Fraize Canine Solutions Training Services) can change Gavin for the better and educate us in becoming better dog owners. It is our responsibility to take care of our dog that we took on and to not make it someone else’s problem. It is the right thing to do and any help would be appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you in advance for your support.
