2019 was a rough year for so many of us in Dayton. One tragedy after another left our community stricken with grief and trauma. For one family, this grief was multiplied after a car accident took 4 of their family members on Christmas day.

Renee D. Jones-Blevins, 49, Quaishia M. D. Jones, 28, Tae’Kwaun Jones, 10, and Mae’lah Jones, 5, each died in the crash that occurred around 11 a.m. that day. You can google "Christmas Day Crash Kills Four in Dayton, Ohio or click this link here to read up on the story.

Lisa Jones and her children were one of the families who lost their home during the Tornadoes. In July, we as a community were able to send her and her kids $700 to rebuild through the "Give $6 for 6" Fundraising Campaign. As Lisa was finally getting a sense of normalcy back for her and her children, she was then stuck with yet another untimely and unfortunate circumstance. Due to this crash, she lost her mother, sister, niece, and her son.

Since then, Lisa and her family have been processing all the loss and grief while also caring for two of the survivors of the crash who remain in the hospital. She has reached out to me again to see if we can bless her family again in the wake of this tragedy.

Today, the hope is to raise 3500 dollars to help her family cover the cost of the hospital bills and rehabilitation for two of the four surviving victims, Tre’Jsaun Jones, age 12, and Armani Jones, age 2. The children are progressing but there is still a long road ahead for them to get well and heal completely.

No amount of money can help Lisa and her family overcome the tragedy that left them at a lost. No amount of money will be able to give her another opportunity to hold her son in her arms. But one thing this money will do is ease the burden for her and her family and ensure that the kids are able to get the best quality of care and stay in the hospital for as long as they need.

We are hoping to reach this goal by February 20th, as this is the date set to end care for Armani's rehabilitation. I'm asking that our #DaytonStrong community come together once again and support our own in the time they need it the most. Thank you and please continue to pray for this family.
