Two sisters devoted to bettering their community and the world at large, Becks and Hannah, have decided to start their own charity. A little bit about them— Hannah, who currently works for Women’s Aid, completed a BSC Psychology Degree at Sheffield Hallam with the goal of improving children’s lives. Becks, who has been actively involved in supporting the Calais Refugee Camp—'the jungle,’ is going on to study a Human Rights degree at South Bank University London. She is positive, optimistic and very focused on assisting refugee children.

Children are the most vulnerable people within our society, unable to defend themselves and open to being easily exploited. Most of the children that enter the country will have witnessed their own families killed and torn apart by the most horrendous acts of violence. No human being should ever have to experience such cruelty no matter what race/gender/ethnicity or religion and especially not the most innocent members of society: children. We aim to help these children by providing them with a stable home in order for them to regain their childhoods which many of them will have had cruelly taken away.

Their vision for a charity centres on improving the lives of unaccompanied minors by creating a space that will house and educate them. More importantly they aim to provide comfort, security and guidance to those who have been left parent less as a result of conflicts in their home country. In order to register the charity legally, they need £5000. To kick start this fundraiser, Becks and Hannah cycled from London to Paris in November over 2 and a half days. They cycled independently and the journey was pretty horrific as the days were short. They managed to raise nearly £1000, currently they are both saving personal funds to raise the amount of £5000 but would be grateful for any sponsorship or donations that could speed the process up for them, to register with the charity commission, we need to prove we have over £5000 worth of income. Let's put the CHILD back in CHILDHOOD.
