Hi everyone!

My name is Gail, I am 30 years old and a disabled Navy vet. My best friend Stephen and I want to start a farm in Nikiski, Alaska. We both grew up on homesteads on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula, with animals large and small, as well as very large and successful gardens. I also won trophies in 4H for my animals, as well as for the fiber arts projects (hand spun and woven) made from their fleeces.

Stephen and I want Raven's Song Farms to be a completely organic and off grid farm. We want to practice crop rotation of species that thrive in our northern climate, and rotational grazing of our animals. We know that farming is long days and hard work, but what can be more rewarding than working with the earth to provide for your family and the community. Eventually we would like to expand Raven's Song Farms to include a small fiber mill, which would clean and process the wool, alpaca, cashmere, quiviut, and other fibers grown in Alaska. There are currently no fiber mills in the state, and it costs the animals' owners a small fortune to ship their fiber to the "Lower Forty-eight". We would like the fiber mill to operate with the same policy as the rest of the farm, and tread softly on the land.

This request is for the initial purchase of the land, as well as setting up a barn. We would also like to start fencing to protect the livestock and gardening areas. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
