Raising money for the Kilimanjaro Orphanage Centre

The Kilimanjaro Orphanage Centre was founded in early 2009 by Edward "Teacher" Lazaro responding to the recognized need to provide care and shelter to an increasing population of orphaned children in the Moshi area. They are a registered NGO (Charter # 3959) that provides residency care for orphaned children as well as day care and community support for other children at risk.
Currently the orphanage accommodates 51 children mostly between the ages of 4 and 10 at a site in Pasua. They provide their residents with matron supervision, regular nutritious meals, and clothing, school needs that include uniforms, books, materials and fees.
The centre is firmly committed to education and have recently completed a classroom and hired a managing teacher for the orphanage to fulfil this goal. The younger children are either instructed on the grounds six days a week or attend a preschool in Majengo. The older children attend local public schools where they are active in overseeing the education they receive and in assisting them with their studies on an individual basis. The Orphanage is managed and operated by volunteers. 100% of donations go to support the children living at our facility.

Your donations to the Kilimanjaro Orphanage Centre go to the daily and long-term needs of the orphans at the Centre. From providing basic food, clothing, medical care, and safe shelter to larger projects that improve educational opportunities and infrastructure. With the guidance of the orphanage's Directors, the budget is carefully managed and ensures donations are spent for the benefit of the orphans.
