Raising money for TBI patients and soldiers

What our organization is working on doing is to provide a support group/net for individuals that have questions or concerns going into surgeries or therapy that have concerns, doubts, or just general questions.  I have been through a lot and I have personal testimony to back up a lot of people’s fears, anxieties, or worries.  We are also going to have a group for concussion awareness.  Concussions are also mild traumatic brain injuries and people need to be educated on these injuries.  We want to get involved with coaches, parents and athletes to educate them on the dangers of these injuries and warning signs.  We want to work with local schools to speak about head trauma on bullying and the ramifications it can cause and what it can do.  One last piece that we are looking at doing is working with the soldiers that are coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan with PTSD and TBI’s that need guidance and support.  There are several hundreds of soldiers that come home on a monthly basis that do not know what to do that are affected.  We want to let them know that they are not alone.  We are working on getting a scholarship/s set up for student athletes for school as well.  We are looking for sponsors for this as well.  With our donation money we are raising money to outfit patients that are recovering from TBI’s to have an IPod to listen to their favorite music while doing therapy.  Music was a big part of my recovery and it truly does help heal.  We are incorporating music therapy into the organization with seeking out local artists to donate their time and music as well to play for patients and at events for patients, families and friends.
