Women and children around the world, are faced with horrifying experiences of violence, trauma, depression, and suicidal thoughts. They face these problems on their daily basis and find it difficult to live their lives freely. Phola has tremendous experience in working with people who have faced the same difficulty and has many success story outcomes and would wish to continue this programme further. Phola provides culturally sensitive methodologies: Tree of life narrative therapy methodology, COURRAGE, O.U.T.T.R.A.G.E.D. and Narratives in the suitcase.

An opportunity has risen for Phola to purchase a shelter that will be used as a refuge for women and children. The shelter will house victims of Gender-based violence (GBV), people with suicidal thoughts, and those who are suffering from depression and the effects of trauma. Throughout their stay, they will be safe and monitored on their daily behavior and response to therapy. Individuals will learn entrepreneurial and leadership skills, while building self-confidence and establishing personal sustainability.

The shelter is based in Johannesburg, and it is safe for women and children to stay in. It caters for +- 50 people, inclusive of both women and children. There is also a playground for babies as well. This shelter is a limited offer to Phola, and we need to secure it as soon as possible.

Therefore, we would like appeal to the public to help us raise funds to achieve this goal. The target we need to reach is 2.5 million rands to acquire this property. With your donation, women and children will receive vital mental and psychosocial support services in the comfort of their safety. Your support will enable our team of dedicated staff to help individuals, families, and groups to recover.

We would be extremely grateful to receive once off donations, but we are also appealing to you to become a regular donor and give to Phola any amount from £10 monthly as this will help keep our programmes up and running and have more beneficiaries.
