This campaign is for my younger brother, Carl, who recently had to undergo a severe operation to remove cancer from his neck.

From May 1st, for 6 weeks, every Monday to Friday, Carl will need to undergo radiotherapy at Brighton Hospital. Carl's daily routine (Mon-Fri) for the next few weeks will include:

- a 10 mile drive to Brighton Hospital each morning to have the radiotherapy...

- after radiotherapy, he'll drive 27 miles to his workplace in Billingshurst...

- when finishing work, he'll drive 37 miles to Newhaven, where he'll stay at our Mum's, ready for the early start for the hospital the next day...

This 74 mile round-trip costs him approximately £7.50 per day, which adds up to £37.50 each week.

While this doesn't sound like much, his workplace have informed him that he will owe them 60hrs of unpaid working hours at some point, because he is having to travel AND have the radiotherapy during work time...so, eventually, he'll be required to work a week and a half...for free (so, he is, in fact, losing money over the next few weeks).

And, Marie Curie have said that they cannot help fund his travel, as he earns over £170.00 per week.

This added financial pressure - on top of undergoing 3 operations in the last year to remove cancer - has left Carl in a stressful state, which isn't helping him recover properly. Yet, he & my family just want to see that he comes out of this with no more cancer in his body, but, we're also not in a position to help him financially at the moment...

Which is why I wanted to see if there is anyone out there who CAN help.

I know that this is asking a lot from people we don't know, but tonight, it felt like the right thing to do, to create a campaign on here, and, to see if there's anyone out there who may be able to help remove this financial stress while the radiotherapy removes the cancer.

It'd be great to hear from you, if you feel that you'll be able to help in some way...

We're thanking you so much in advance.

With love,

Shaun Troke

The story...

In the summer of 2016, my younger brother Carl was told that he had cancer in his lip, and, he went on the have the cancer removed, which left him scarred from this bottom lip to the bottom of his chin. A few weeks after this, X-rays showed that the cancer had returned to the lip, and, it once again needed to be removed from his lip.

Earlier this year, while undergoing regular check-ups, it was discovered that the cancer had spread to the glands in Carl's neck, which ultimately led to major surgery, where he had to be opened up from ear to ear to remove around 80 glands...he has in hospital for 9 days, and, is still healing from this operation.

Out of the 80 glands that were removed, only 7 were found to be cancerous.
