I have over 20 years customer service experience, mainly in telecoms, and I wanted to bring this mindset to the tyre fitting industry. Having had bad experiences with both the big companies and the little independents I wanted to do something about it so I started my own business in April 2014. My goal was to awake the industry and give customers what they want, not what the garage wants them to have. I've lost count of the amount of times that a customer has come to me with different size tyres on and when asked, their reply was that the garage said it would be ok. Your car has a specific tyre size for a reason, not because the garage didn't have your size in stock so decided to put some rubbish on that they had lying around. I want to raise the standard and repair the reputation that others have damaged. Tyres are the only thing between you and the road!
I won't lie, it has been tough since trading started in July 2014 and at the moment because of circumstances beyond my control I am struggling to stay afloat. Competitors doing all they can to disrupt my business and the everyday running of it. Things like phone call requests to place orders for tyres then not turning up, having stock stolen off my premises, cash being taken from my office whilst I am in the back getting stock for as customer. How do I know it is competitors? They have had the audacity to turn up with a hi-viz jacket on, emblazoned with their company logo! This business is not just for me but for my family's future and I will not allow others to spoil it for me or my children. I want to build something they can be proud of so that they can say to their friends, my dad owns that.
It things like this that make me more determined to be even better and take the business to the next level, and make it more secure. This is where you come in. I would like to raise cash to purchase a range of new tyres to enable the customer to have a wider choice; New or Part Worn, rather than me having to order in new tyres and ask the customer to come back the next day to have them fitted. Off the shelf tyres equals a happy customer! I would like to buy better quality, faster machinery, though not necessarily new, which will enable me to reduce waiting times and improve the customer experience. By having this upgraded equipment it will open up a new market for me, to be able to offer a Run-Flat tyre service. There are other items I would like to improve, like the waiting room for example. By adding a small TV, maybe a games console for the kids (or big kids) that attend and offer refreshments free of charge will again improve the customer experience.
I have begun my journey, making a good start so far but with your kind assistance I want to go further and make this experience one that customers will enjoy and my family will be proud of. Spread the word and help grow my business. Thank you.
