READY TO STEP INTO A NEW WORLD

For those of you that don't know I have been accepted for an 18 week placement in Kenya to work in orphanges in Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa. I am thrilled to be given this opporunity and can not wait to embark on my first volunteering adventure. 

I could really use a little bit of help though!

WHERE THE MONEY RAISED WILL GO

Your money will go into sending me half way accross the world to work directly with the AIDS orphans in Kenya. Kenya has orphanages which house HIV/AIDS orphans, many of whom are themselves HIV positive. Other children in the orphanages were simply abandoned. Due to the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS, orphans are often neglected in Africa.

The orphans I will come into contact with during my placement have been extremely disadvantaged by their circumstances and will have endured a great deal of hardship - much of it holding back their development. The children in the Kenyan orphanage projects have never experienced loving, caring and stable relationships.

As an orphanage volunteer in Kenya I will be supplying much-needed attention, compassion, hope, encouragement, support and love to vulnerable children. As a result, I will be helping the children to become empowered to face the challenges of their life, poverty and possible exploitation. 

EVERY PENNY COUNTS

I will be working and putting aside every penny I can to save for this trip, but I would appreciate any help I can get!

Any extra money that is raised will be donated to the orphanages that I will be working in, the community and to local families that will be hosting me during my stay.
