Prevent Who Who’s Paralysis

Who Who, affectionately known as Baby Who, is my mom's rescue dog. Who Who grew up in a puppy mill (just like my dog Beanie) -- she's estimated to be about six years old now, and she's scared of almost everything. But when she's not hiding somewhere, boy, is she a ray of sunshine. She's adorable and silly, cuddly and sweet. We love her so much!

Who Who had a seemingly minor fall today that left her limping alarmingly badly. We took her to the vet, who found that Who Who had lost almost all feeling in her back legs. She has a slipped disc. It's been a few hours since that diagnosis, and Who Who can no longer walk.

The vet says this is really time-sensitive. Now, Who Who still has some feeling in her legs, which gives her a 90% chance of being able to walk again after surgery. If she loses feeling in her legs completely, the success rate goes down to below 50%.

The cost of a CT scan + surgery is approximately SGD$12,000. For my family, that is an astronomical, basically impossible amount. It's so unfair that this is happening to Baby Who when her life has been so hard already. The vet wanted to take her into surgery immediately, because that's how urgent this is. But we didn't have the funds, and we ended up taking her home with just pain killers to tide her over.
