Combat elderly abuse
We can combat elderly abuse through education. Pretoria Care for the Aged has satellite offices in many areas however would like to expand to other areas as well.
Our goal is to open 5 more satellite offices by the end of 2017.
In order to do this, we need:

Petrol / gas costs per month R2 000 R24 000
Office space per month R5 000 R60 000 1x meal per day (5 days) – approx. 100 beneficiaries per area R13.00 R468 000
Skills development class per month (approx. 50 attendees) R50.00 R30 000
TOTAL R798 000 (US$ 57 000)
To run 1 satellite office at minimum capacity per year an amount of R798 000 is needed. Translated to US$ it is approximately $57 000.
South Africa’s elderly abused daily!
With South Africa’s rapidly ageing population it is estimated that by 2031 the population aged 65 years and over will nearly double.
Social abuse, lack of access to health care and the impact of HIV/Aids is just some of the things highlighted by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
In most cases, the elderly is forced to provide for their families from their monthly grants – especially in black communities. The monthly grant is R1500 (US$108)
Older persons often become subjects of abuse by family members who often take away the little money that they get.
Pretoria Care for the Aged is a registered non-profit welfare organisation rendering social work services to the elderly in Pretoria and surrounding areas. It is our policy to do the greatest possible good for the greatest possible number of people.
We encourage the elderly to live as independent members of the community in their own homes for as long as possible – and provide a number of support services to the elderly and their families to achieve this goal.
The purpose of our organisation is to take care of the elderly and vulnerable who would otherwise fall through the cracks of our welfare and social security system.
