Plešimedo is an organization for movement, contemporary dance and audiovisual communication, founded in 2005. It is led by an artistic director and a choreographer Zrinka Lukčec Kiko.

The play “20/20”, which will premiere on May 15th 2020 at Zagreb Dance Center, is the 9th play produced by the organization and choreographed by Zrinka. The play tries to ask questions about recent problems in contemporary society. Theater and dance are our platforms through which we ask ourselves to what extent we have improved in mutual understanding and whether we respect the right to diversity.

In order to carry out the play in cooperation with our creative team and superb performers, we are in need of funds for the play’s production. You can make your contribution via this platform and support our work, but also contribute to the development of art which raises important questions.

Women are bad drivers. Men are better at orientation in space and tend to have better fine motor skills. Women are great at multitasking, while men cannot do things simultaneously. Men turn into kids when sick. Women are hysterical. Real men do not cry.

Stereotypes. Or…?

When talking about differences between men and women, we are burdened by these kinds of stereotypes. If we ignore them, we lack in sense of humor. If we take them seriously, we are rigid traditionalists. If we fight them, we are aggressive feminists. Therefore, there is no the right position: the only possibility is to constantly ask these questions:

Are we biologically or socially determined? Why are some behaviors considered appropriate for men, but inappropriate for women? Why certain sets of specific character traits are offensively defined via gender terms? Is female legitimation possible solely through male voice (even only as a means of resistance)? To what extent are we ready to accept the Otherness?

These themes, as many others, will be the subjects of our rehearsals whereupon we will try to bring into imbalance an actress, a female dancer, an actor and a male dancer. Two women, two men. Two actors, two dancers. Four performers. Here we are on the same wavelength. Supposedly.

The play „20/20“ deals with disparities and the means of communication in the terms of differences.
