Pomes Heart Surgery Funding

„Hello, my name is Pomes, I'm a 3 months old West Highland White Terrier, I live with my loving family in Zagreb, Croatia, I also have a little brother Alli, whom I love very much. I also have a serious health issue and your help would mean the World to me.“

We adopted the 2 terriers from our neighbours who couldn't keep them a few weeks ago, we called them Alli and Pomes, their warm hearts very quickly got used to me and my family so everything that happened recently is quite big of a shock for us.

About 2 weeks ago we went to the vet for the regular vaccine shot, Alli went through without any issues, but when it was Pomes's turn, it's when the things went pretty much upside down. The vet observed Pomes and came to a conclusion that his heart rate is unstable, irregular. So some time after we did the x rays and the ultrasound at a specialist. The news were shocking, Pomes has the Patent Ductus Arteriosus, a heart disease, or better to say defect which occured right after the birth, a blood vessel didn't close, that made his blood presure never constant and due to that his heart is around 25% bigger than it should be. It also affects his breathing, appetite and energy.

The specialist's advice was clear and somewhat heartbreaking, by his observations and diagnosis, the best thing would be to let him live as it is until he starts to have more issues, then to put him out of his misery.

Of course, by our standards and way of life this was never going to be the case.

We asked for any other solution other than the original one, then came the proposal by the specialist, there is a possibility of undergoing a surgery, an open heart surgery to manually close the said vessel. Pomes has around 30% chance to survive it and successfully recover from it. Luckily, we do not care about numbers or odds, we are ready to fight for this sugar plum!

The operation costs around 9000 €, we managed to get around 4000 from our own fundings and other sources , but we are still 5000 short, so we are asking any animal loving enthusiasts for help, actually, we are not, Pomes is! Pomes needs your help.
