This winter from December 19th to January 3rd I will be traveling to India with the organization PMGY (Plan My Gap Year) to volunteer in an orphanage in Delhi and I will also take part in a women empowerment program. For the orphanage program, the volunteers work in the afternoons for around 3 to 4 hours per day, helping the children with their homework, teaching English, organizing activities and providing general support to the staff at the orphanage. For the PMGY women empowerment program volunteers join a social initiative that provides computer, English, vocational training and other skills for young women in the local community. This program promises to be rewarding and eye-opening in equal measure.
I traveled to Nepal last year with Habitat for Humanity and built a house in Pokhara for a family of ten. It was such an incredible experience that when Mary, the leader and coordinator of the Habitat trip offered me to join this PMGY program in India this winter, it didn’t take me long to make a decision. I am sure it will be an incredible and enriching adventure.
If you make a donation, I will send you a thank you postcard from India. Money raised will be directed by myself towards the highest needs with this program.
Many thanks to all of my backers!!
