UPDATE: Myself & Shaun would like to thank each & every one of you so so very much for everything you’ve done towards Shaun’s operation! 🙏❤️

Not just financially but emotionally as well! We appreciate every share, post, donation, message, phone call & check in that we have been receiving!
From the kind words of support & encouragement to each & every donation! You really have no idea what this all means to us & we will never be able to express how grateful we actually are!

We have been so overwhelmed by the kindness, compassion & understanding we have been receiving over the last week! It really is so much appreciated & we are so grateful for the all the love being shown to us!

**UPDATE : We are blown away by the donations we have received from near and far. Not only through this platform but PayPal payments and direct EFT's too. THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Shaun is having his surgery on Monday, we were able to find an amazing surgeon who would allow a large deposit and the balance in a payment plan.

Please keep sharing and donating as every cent will help with the surgery costs, post operative care such as physiotherapy & monthly expenses as we are operating Urban Canine on a quarter capacity at the moment and then of course there is the rehabilitation for both of their legs.

Hello, My name is Cherilee and I am not sure how to ask for the assistance that we need but I am going to try as we are out of alternative options.

My fiancé Shaun, and I were in a motorbike accident on November 27 2020. A car did a U-turn in front of us, we tried our best to maneuver around the car but he stopped over the two lanes. We both came off the bike. We were lucky that there was an off-duty paramedic driving by that could start to assist us as we waited for the ambulance.

My main injuries were that my knee and femur broke into 5 pieces. Even though we had the correct protective gear on it was still not enough. My leg was hanging open and I could see the bone. Shaun landed on the other side of the road, he also had broken his leg. He crawled over the road to get to me as I was unable to move and screaming from the shock and the pain.

Shaun has 5 fractures through his tibia and fibula bone as well as damage to his ankle.

We are a young couple that manages, runs, and owns our own doggy daycare business.

With lockdown and the impact of Covid on the economy and our business directly, we had to drop our medical aid cover. We were going to be able to reactivate it in December however it was just a little too late.

We are now having to pay out of pocket for the surgeries and other medical procedures required. I have had my operation and blood transfusion but we do have medical bills to pay there still. Shaun still needs to have an operation but right now we cannot afford an additional R250 000 on top of my medical expenses too.

Shaun tried to go the route of government care and due to Covid the hospitals are full, understaffed, and the wait lists indefinite for even just an x-ray and CT scan. Shaun is still waiting to have his operation and has now approached a private hospital to see if a payment plan can be set up as it has now been almost 2 weeks since the accident. Currently Shaun is just getting bed rest and is not on his feet at all.

Besides the medical bills, we are also unable to work in our current states at full capacity during our busiest time of year. Mobility is key to run our business and we are losing out on income that covers expenses well into the end of the first quarter of next year. We have employed some part-time staff so that we can run at a fourth of our normal capacity but this will result in there not being enough income coming in to cover normal month to month expenses. We miss our clients and their fur children. We also hate that we are letting clients down in such a busy time.

Covid and 2020, in general, has been a hard year for everyone but please we are asking if you are able to donate at all we would truly appreciate it and it would help far more than you know, regardless of the amount.

There have been a lot of lessons in this whole situation but most of all, it is a reminder of how short life is and how grateful we are to be alive and to still have each other through all of this. There is still a long road to recovery but we are grateful that we get to take the path on together.

For full transparency you are welcome to contact us prior to making a donation should you have anything you would like clarity on.

Our contact numbers are:

Cherilee: +27 76 649 2187

Shaun: +27 81 522 6543

Thank you in advance for any donation you are able to offer. We are beyond thankful. Any money raised beyond the target for the medical bills will go towards our monthly expenses as we will not have a full income coming in while we recover and operate at a reduced capacity.

If you would like to make a direct EFT please contact us so that we can provide the account details for the allocated account for the medical bills.
