Please help us! We need a small down payment for a home!

I have been through a terrible divorce (after 17 years of marriage) that has left me in an impossible position to raise money for a down payment on a house. I have been trying for 3 years now and I just can't seem to do it. Just when I think I might be able to, something happens (like my car breaks down and costs alot to repair)

I am a teacher in a public school here in NC. I live on a teacher's salary.

The divorce courts in Michigan (where I used to live) have had me paying $917 month to an ex husband who was only working part time. (some formula they use and it puts all the burden on me, the woman) I have been rebuilding my credit the last 3 years but it still isn't high enough where the state of NC will give me down payment assistance to buy a home, and having to pay almost a thousand a month out to an ex the last few years, on a teacher's salary, has made it impossible to save any money for a down payment on a house. I really need some help to be able to get a home again.

I am positive that some of my medical issues are caused by the stress I am under and I believe if I could have a home of my own again, and not be stressed out about my current housing situation, that a lot of things going on with my body would calm down and I would feel alot better.
