Runtie is a young rat I hand-reared after he, his brother and two sisters fell out of a roof on the farm (17 February 2018). He was the smallest of the four, which is why he was named Runtie. We suspect their mom was killed by the farm dog, leaving them orphans at about two weeks old. It seems as if he broke his nose falling out of the roof as his nose is a bit skew (none of his siblings look like this). Unfortunately this has caused him to have dental problems, his teeth grow skew, which means he needs to go to the vet to have them trimmed, otherwise they grow to long, causing him discomfort, and making it difficult for him to eat. If they are not trimmed, there is a risk that they will grow into his jaw, causing him severe pain and possibly even leading to his death. Runtie is my pet, I do not breed with them. He is very affectionate, he is always the first to greet me when I let him out and loves giving 'kisses'. I am asking if anyone can please assist towards vet bills for his dental work, being a rat his teeth grow continuously, so it seems he will have to see the vet every 2-3 weeks, amounting to R800. 00 a month, and my salary is not covering it. He is in perfect health in all aspects except for his teeth. Please assist if you can, I love this little guy so much.
