I am a full-time student who will be attending the first year course of Business Management at Kingston University. I am also the first to go to university to receive education in my entire family so this is a big step forward in our family and everyone is excited for me. Unfortunately for me I cannot afford this education as I don't receive any funding from the government, do not have any savings and don't have enough money to pay for tuition fees myself. I have explored the option of working while studying to pay for my tuition fees but I would also need to pay for my accommodation, bills, transport and food. With the education, qualifications and experience I have I will not be able to earn £18,000 a year on a national minimum wage and still manage to attend and pass with a 1st or 2.1 grade as I will not enough time to focus on my education.
I do no wish to ask for the full £18,000 as I feel like that is too much and could be spent on other better causes. I am planning to work £30hrs a week and earn around £800 a month to help me pay for my bills. Below is the recommended budget guideline provided by the University.
Outgoing Money in a Year
Tuition Fees £9,000/year
Accommodation (London) £5,000/Year
Household Bills £30/Week
Food and House Keeping £2,600/Year
Books and equipment £500/Year
Travel (bus pass) £500/Year
Visits home £300/Year
Although I would not need money for entertainment and could spend less on the other categories, as you can see it will be difficult for me to earn the entire amount and still study a full time course. Anything from a single penny would go long way to help me.
Thank you for your time and donation.
