Please help me get to Hive Global leaders Program

Africa needs more young motivated entrepreneurs developing their global leadership skills.

Out of over 1500 applicants from 50+ countries around the world, not only did I get accepted I was awarded a partial scholarship which is only offered to a few applicants to attend Hive, a Global Leaders Program. I am really blessed to have been selected out of so many qualified and amazing candidates.

Hive is a global community of leaders working together on creating a better world. The event is taking place at the Innovation Hangar at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. I am really in shock, finally, I have the opportunity to visit the United States. I always dreamt about it. The programme is taking place in December from the 16th to the 19th 2016.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Dunmore from South Africa. I am a Post Graduate Economics student and young social entrepreneur. I believe each one of us is a solution to a problem in the world. I have a passion of helping people and fostering community development programs. I realized that the world right now needs people who take action to change the bad they see and not just sit and complain. I discovered that there has been a rise in the number of homeless people in South Africa. This led me to initiate a Non-Profit Organization called Shine-Out Community Development Organization with the objective of empowering the homeless and street children by promoting self-sustainability which I am working on with my colleagues and our vision is to combat homelessness and create a better mankind and community for all. I believe I am created to be a positive change driver and I am engaged in a number of volunteer activities which include the Green Peace Africa in which we engage in campaigns for a greener and more peaceful future. I am also a volunteer member of the KZN Environmental Network in which we work on sustainable development and environmental justice issues in Durban South Africa.

What drove me to apply to Hive Global Leadership program is my need for a platform that will enhance my leadership capacity, ignite my passion and accelerate my growth. Hive is bringing together some of the world’s leading purpose- driven entrepreneurs and innovators for a unique immersive leadership program. I really want to become renowned a successful social entrepreneur and empirical research analyst. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The society is in need of problem solvers, those who see a need and make a concerted effort to reach out to that need and strongly believe I am a problem solver.

This experience will be important to me as it will allow me to be an advocate of change at a global level and reinvent me so I will be able to make the contribution I want to make to the society. Also, this is a wonderful opportunity for me to build important networks across the globe as Hive’s mission is to establish the world’s most impactful community of leaders. The members of the network hail from 50+ countries and are world-class entrepreneurs, creators, technologists, innovators, community builders and influencers.

The change I want to see in the world is communities of people that are driven by love, support each other and I would also like to see more opportunities for self-development and self-enrichment to be offered to the less fortunate. I am dedicated to seeing that to fruition as I have already initiated an organisation in South Africa that empowers the homeless and street children by promoting self-sustainable projects. In fighting hunger and poverty I am working on fostering agricultural activities which is at the apex of my socio-economic development strategy for food security. My vision create a better world, transform lives and offer a beacon of hope and a better life to those who are living in a world of oblivion.

Hive Global Leaders Program will help me catalyse personal and professional growth which I believe will put in in the right path to success by being a member the network of world class community builders and influencers. Hive’s curriculum has been influenced by the Harvard Business School MBA program, the Singularity University Executive Program, the Stanford, the Harvard Graduate Student Leadership Institute, Ashoka, The Art of Living, Landmark Curriculum for Living and the work of Google[x] innovator Tom Chi. I know it will take my skills to the next level and equip me with knowledge and the tools to impact not just hundreds but hundreds of thousands around the world. Africa needs more young motivated entrepreneurs developing their global leadership skills and creating more sustainable communities. I believe I am one of them.
