Please help me fund my education

Hello potential donors!

I'm a graduate from Stellenbosch University (BA Honours in General Linguistics, cum laude) in South Africa, and have recently accepted an unconditional offer from the University of Edinburgh to start an MScR in Linguistics this September. Unfortunately, however, I was unable to secure the funds I need to cover tuition, and am therefor asking for help.

Getting my master's degree would open the world up to me as I am currently struggling to find work with a living wage and am living hand-to-mouth. A master's degree would mean many job opportunities, a step into my dream career as an academic, and the funds to help my mother who is currently also struggling to find work. It's difficult watching her struggle and being helpless beyond the occasional couple of hundred rands I can spare. She's been living with a friend for 9 months and has several medical conditions (knees giving in, a messed up shoulder, and an autoimmune disease) and is at retiring age but doesn't have a pension. The only way I can help her on the long run is to get a very well-paying job, and a master's degree would vastly improve my chances at that.

The amount I've specified for this campaign only covers tuition, as I plan to look for a farm stay or home stay around Edinburgh to cut costs and, as I will miss my garden here at home, to have the opportunity to still get soil under my fingernails.

If my campaign is successful I plan to do my MScR on universal quantifiers, building a syntactic model for them by comparing the part of speech in several languages in order to explain quantifier stranding and the distribution of universal quantifiers.

I would greatly appreciate your help in realizing my dream and getting me to a brighter future where I'll be in a much better position to give back to my mom and to my community.
