Please help GalGal save her leg!

GalGal hurt her front leg, the leg is dangling. We immediately took her to the vet and was saddened to find out that she has a dislocated leg.

The vet (Advanced Petcare) we first brought GalGal to advised us to do the AH Procedure (basically mean put back the joint) which cost us SGD2000. I saw the xray and feel GalGal must be very painful, and I believe it was, as she never let stranger to hug her so easily but this time doctor can hug her easily. It is a big amount for us but I believe still manageable with creditcard loan, hence we proceed to do the treatment.

1 week later, we went for review and expect everything fine and they will remove the bandage. Unfortunately, the xray result show the joint dislocated again thus cannot remove the bandage. They told us there are only 2 ways now:

- To do a surgery (to drill a hole and plug in a pin to secure it) which estimated cost around SGD5000

- To amputation which cost SGD2000

They told us to have the surgery done ASAP and relieve her of the immense pain and suffering. If leave it dangling for the rest of her life, there is a high chance will get joint infection. As the result took us unexpectedly, our family is not prepared for the surgery expenses. We are still paying off the medical fees of the first treatment.

Second opinion from Beecroft (update on 27/8)

After we posted this donation page, many people suggest us to bring GalGal go to Beecroft for second opinion. Therefore, we went to the vet on 27 Aug. The doctor said there is a high chance it will be dislocated again if push into the position and thus we do not prefer to this treatment again which make more painful to GalGal. However, doctor tried to push it back after viewing the xray, sadly, it failed.

The doctor said this is abnormal case, and thus she will send the xray to specialist to get opinion about the surgery or if there have any other ways to heal GalGal. Therefore, she is unable to provide us the quotation today and will get back to us ASAP.

Surgery Quotation from Beecroft (updated on 31/8)

Thank you very much for Beecroft's team in finding a way to heal GalGal's leg!!

During the surgery, the surgical specialist will put back the joint, drill a hole and plug in the pin to secure the leg. But the surgical specialist has mentioned that it would be a more complicated surgery as the luxation has been there for a long time. The severity of the complication will only be known during the surgery and he will assess it then.

GalGal is going to have the surgery today. Pray that everything will go smoothly 🙏

As time is pressing, we have to do the surgery asap. Although under financial pressure, we still go ahead with the surgery to ease GalGal's pain.

Unexpected (updated on 17/9)

With a heavy heart to post this update.

On 10th Sep 2021, GalGal's surgery was delayed and we received a call from Vet around 9.19pm to inform us that the surgery would start soon and the surgery would take 1 to 2 hours. However, at 11.14pm, received a call from Vet to say GalGal's heartbeat stopped and to confirm if proceed to CPR. We were all stunned...yes, totally stunned...but still immediately gave a green light to them and they said will get back to us after 5mins. This 5 mins, we both were quiet, pray hard and tear drops...unfortunately, Vet said sorry, they tried their best... The reason is, after 45mins the surgery started, GalGal started to reject the medicine and the heartbeat started to drop.

Today is 7th day (头七) of my lovely bunny GalGal. We cleaned all her things but not packed, hoping that she won't feel lost when she make a goodbye trip to us tonight.

GalGal, sorry, we didn't mean to put you in danger, please forgive us. Good Gal, cross the rainbow bridge after visiting us tonight. Baba and Mama hope you binky freely and happily there, just like you did to us.
