Campaign Story
I've been through all sorts. My stepfather died, my disabilities were exacerbated by the way I was treated by some people, and I've been assaulted in my own home, forcing me to shell out for CCTV. Throughout all of this, I have been trying to get a master's degree.
I am so close to finishing the MA Creative Practice course at Liverpool Hope University (LHU) and have been achieving grades at a minimum of merit level, most at distinction level. But I'm in financial difficulty because Student Finance England (SFE) gave me the wrong information (they do this with many students, as many can confirm), so I'm thousands of pounds short of my tuition fees. I also need to pay for a private tutor as my university, LHU cannot find a supervisor with appropriate subject specialism, and I don't want to risk my grades due to being unable to get answers to questions, as it could risk me starting a PhD.
LHU has absolutely no fund for postgraduate students in unforeseen circumstances, and I applied to the Unite Benevolent Fund for support but they were only able to give me £250 towards fees, which is sadly not enough, though I am very grateful to Unite for providing it. As my project for my course is partly autism related, I really want to complete it, and may be able to help increase understanding and awareness of autism. LHU's motto is 'hope to all who need it', and it has sadly let me down, so I am putting my hope in the generosity of strangers.
