Pillow’s kidneys are failing but his spirit hasn’t stopped fighting at this very last stage of his life. Seeing him, I can’t help but to do everything that I can to save him and improve his quality of life; he is my child.
Pillow is born with kidney dysplasia and it is a miracle that he is 6.5 years old right now. The two senior doctors from the veterinary hospital shared on separate occasions that they have never seen a dog with kidney dysplasia live past 2 years.
The end stage kidney failure’s downturn was so sudden and steep, it almost claimed Pillow’s life. But little Pillow’s strength is out of my humanly league. He has gone through so much.. blood transfusions, feeding tube insertions, blood electrolytes imbalance.. and still, he is alive, and I have not heard him cry or whine in suffering. He still remembers his toilet training and he tries his best to go to the toilet by himself. He still perks up when he sees food coming and when he knows that I’m bringing him out for a walk.
