People to People – China Trip

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE ABOUT MY PROJECT:
The world's future is in my generation's hands. People to People is a program that President
Dwight D. Eisenhower began in 1956 as a peaceful solution in our war-filled world. His vision was to give everyday citizens in different countries opportunities to get to know each other, hoping that through this the result would be understanding, friendship and lasting peace. People to People Ambassador Programs are meant to break down cultural barriers by providing travel opportunities for student delegates, led by experienced teachers. I have a wonderful opportunity to become part of this movement towards cultural understanding and peace. 

THINGS I WILL EXPERIENCE:
I will among many things be seeing the great wall, volunteering in the community, going to the world famous zoo, seeing the forbidden city, taking cooking classes on Asian style food, meeting performers for a world famous circus before getting to watch them perform.  I will be trying my hand in ping pong against people who will definitely beat me, I will spend 3 days with a family learning the everyday life style for a family in China.  I will alsowill be going down the Yellow River in a bamboo raft, and much more!

PLACES I WILL GO:
I will go to Beijing and Shanghai Xian and many more places.

THINGS I WANT TO BRING BACK:
I will bring back lifetime memories of people I met and experiences I had which are much more important than any physical item. This is a dream come true for me this is the one place I’ve always wanted to go and now I have a chance to go with an amazing program. I hope to bring back lifelong lessons that will help me in my life and most of all I hope to make many friendships with people I’m traveling with and people in China.

HOW THIS AFFECTS MY FUTURE:
As an Ambassador I will have greater than an 80% chance of being accepted into the college of my choice.  Through this opportunity I hope to develop a clearer picture for my future. I also believe that before the world can get any better or advance any further we need to work together as a world and put aside differences and rather focus on coming closer to other peoples all over the world.  This chance to go see other culture is a great way to put in action this belief.  I really cannot wait, there are so many things we can learn from other cultures! Also, I believe that if the world comes together there is nothing we can’t do.  Imagine every scientist in the world looking for a alternative to fossil fuels or a cure to cancer those dreams and goals would come much faster so I hope to build friendship there so we can be better united as people and race the race of humanity.
