This is a project to inspire and regenerate the moral fiber in Kokstad, Shayamoya. The youth in the community is largely unemployed and rates of teenage pregnancy, alcoholism and drugs are high. •The most common reasons cited for drinking include: being sociable (36% of drinkers), to forget about problems, loneliness, escape from reality (27%), to get drunk (19)and boredom (18%). Therefore the greatest number of drinkers (64%) drink to escape, not to socialize (36%).

Most young people quit school at a very young age either because they fell pregnant or they got trapped in drugs and alcohol. • The community is desperate for a sense of pride and purpose. This proposal seeks to close the gaps and propose better strategies to deal with youth unemployment and poverty. As statistics reveal few people manage to get to institutions of higher learning in the past years and we would like to address and close this gap. These are just a few of the reasons we decided to start this project. The project will focus on empowering young girls and boys from the age of 10 to the age of 25 years through skills development, talk shows, career advice and entertainment.

We are more than happy to share our proposal on request. Kindly email: [email protected] for further questions and engagements.
