Patches

  Hello my name is Patches I have been with my mom since I was a puppy, I am eight years old now. I love my mommy! We were living with my moms boyfriend up until one day me and Gracie his dog got into the garbage and he kicked us down the stairs. I broke both bones in my right arm all the way through, I was left in the kenal in a dirty basement with bone sticking out of my skin for two hours by myself, I knew my mommy would come get me as soon as she could she was at work and finally she did and was really upset so I had to be brave for her. Amber picked me up and carried me. She took me to some place where they wraped my arm and gave me some pain medicine, mom cried the whole way and her sister Amber held me in the car all the way to Eastern Iowa Veterinary Specialty Center in Cedar Rapids. Nobody closer to home could fix my arm, so I stayed in Cedar Rapids, mom finally came to see me and said I had to stay, I had my Right Radius and Right Ulna fracture repair they put a plate and pins in my arm and said I have to be on kenal rest for twelve weeks. It was very expensive but mom wanted me to keep my leg. Mommy had to move, so we moved in with some of her friends so she can pay for my leg and so I dont have to put up with that mean old man no more.     Hi my name is Ashley and I was at work on June 9th 2014 when I got a call saying my dogs leg was broke, I went to pick my sister up and headed straight home, what we found was horrible she called for Patches and he never came out, she found him in the basement, he dident make a sound because he was so scarred. Thank god for my sister or I could not have kept it together. She picked my dog up and carried him out to my car and I cought a glimpse of the damage done thinking to myself o my god I dont think they can fix that! I cried all the way to State st in Cedar Falls we arrived at Taylor Veterinary Hospital, and the vet told me that the break is to bad for them to repair so he refered me to the Veterinary Specialty Center in Cedar Rapids. We got back into car and went straight there, they looked him over and told me the bad news. I paid $800.00 that night and went home to think things over. I dident know what to do, I got home at 3:30am and went back to work at 730am. I couldent believe he left him all alone in the kenal for two hours with bone sticking out!! I called almost every vet in waterloo and cedar falls and everybody wanted to look at the break first so I decided to just keep him in Cedar Rapids. I wasent going to bring him back and be turned away by the vets around here nobody does plating and it was in a bad spot. I had the consult with Dr. Aper and went ahead with surgery thanks to my dad borrowing me some money. The bill came to be $3,700.00 i have to come up with this and since I just moved to a temporary place for now, we really need the help! I dont know whats going to happen to us the next couple of months so please anything will help!
