Our Own Place

My kids and I are moving out on our own on Feb 1, 2019 and we need a little help getting started. It’s not easy to ask for help, but it is too expensive to put down a deposit, application, pet fees, and first month’s rent all at once - and that’s all after the moving expenses themselves are covered. I make a very modest salary and will apply for housing in the least expensive 2 bedroom apartment near my kids’ school. We can budget and scrounge once we get settled, but I have to find a way to finance this move for me and my 3 kids first. While I am working full time and plan to borrow against my retirement, we will still be short. It doesn’t help that I was in the hospital for a week and lost wages due to that recently. I even returned the telescope I bought the kids for Christmas once we discovered we’d have to move out and needed the money. I’m trying to get ahold of the Veteran’s Resource Center for help too, but so far they’ve not been responsive.

We appreciate any help we can get. If it were just me - I’d just live in my van and not say anything to anyone, but I have to do better for my kids - even if that means swallowing my pride and asking for help. Your support, encouragement, and love means the world to us. Thank you for your help.
