My fiancé and I met thru the Dallas Derby Devils years ago but had both been in relationships. It wasn't until both of those ended that either one of us took notice of the other as anything but the Head of Security and a derby girl.

We started dating only a month before I was to move up to Seattle to clear my head, start fresh and be close to my Dad and his side of the family. Neither of us expected anything to evolve let alone get to this point but love does that to people. It sneaks up and whacks you right in the kisser when least expected.

Long story short, I had a great job in Washington, he has a great job here plus 3 boys from his first marriage that he did not want to be so far away from. He proposed on May 28th, 2010 in front of a large group of our friends during a BBQ that we were hosting while I was in town for one of my (many) visits. On my birthday trip back to Texas he surprised me with a meeting with the Celebrity Wedding Planner, Donnie Brown!! My dream! To have a professional planner (celebrity no-less), to help me with the nightmare of planning my wedding since my Mom & Grandma are no longer with us. Surprisingly he was very affordable for being so high profile and we signed a contract on the spot while tears of relief and joy ran down my face!

Fast Forward: Having been able to find employment in less than a month while I was up in Seattle, I was sure that finding a job when I moved back to Texas would take no time at all! Wrong! The same company that found me a job in WA, wouldn't even return an email and produced nothing that lead to an interview. I turned to Craigslist, numerous Temp agencies, solicited friends and league-mates for anything!

Month after month - savings dwindled - April came and went so did the tax return. Billy's eldest began having medical issues (which to this day no tests can determine exactly what is wrong), that lead to him being pulled out of high school, then we have his youngest two that have orthodontia costs (in his divorce decree he is solely responsible for all medical/dental costs). This leaves him virtually spent after also paying regular monthly bills.

Resorting to working in bars at the detriment of my own sobriety as well as Billy and my brothers wishes, I was desperate for any money that would not only alleviate Billy from having to cover my minimal bills but also put some money towards our wedding. Two months of making next to nothing but enough to keep my car in my possession and cell phone on, I finally get a job interview that lands me a great job with decent pay. Not to mention it is also close to home so my once 100-mile (round-trip) commute was shortened to less than 7 miles.

However, starting a job in the beginning of July won't give me enough time to earn enough to pay for all the contracts we are currently bound for our wedding. Billy's parents have passed, my mother was lost nearly 8 years ago and my Dad is an entrepreneur that while makes ends meet has small business expenses and is unable to contribute.

I never thought I would get married and it took 31 years to find the man of my dreams. I want it to be a day to remember and not the day we breached the contracts, still having to pay for everything but not actually getting the wedding of my dreams.

We have everything we need for our home and lives. We need for nothing; nothing other than a small contribution to our happily ever after.

Rewards

I'll send you a t-shirt that says "I helped make a derby wedding happen & all I got is this lousy t-shirt!" Or something like that. Once I have the shirt figured out I will post a picture.
