OPUS: SUMMER 2013
Like an opus, an artist is an unfinished symphony. Constantly growing and evolving;
always striving to be better.
With so many of our nation’s schools eliminating artistic programs, our youth are
having less and less opportunity to discover their talents and exercise the creative part
of their brain. Art is a necessary food for the developing soul.
OPUS is a club for teens, ages 14-17 focussing on Career/College Prep, Creativity, TV Production, Christian Values, Community Involvement and, Volunteering. (20) Club members will "pay" for membership, by completing required volunteer hours, for a local charity/organization/church of their choice.
Participating in OPUS: SUMMER 2013. Teens will learn and apply real-world career building skills while excercising their creative minds: Creative Development, Working as a Team, Project Managing, Client Relations, Working with Deadlines, Improv/Thinking Creatively and Quickly, Workplace Etiquette and Confidence Building, Script Writing, Production Assistant Boot Camp and, more.
During OPUS: Summer 2013 club members will work with the Producer and Director, and will organize as a production crew and begin the creative journey from concept, to delivery. Summer projects will include:
(1) :15 or :30 broadcast quality – PSA for a local “Brevard County” hometown cause (i.e. “Keeping Beaches Clean”, ”Volunteering”, etc.)
(1) :15 or :30 broadcast quality – Christian Teen Message (“teens”, “bible verses”, “maintaining beliefs in the real world”, etc.)
Under the guidance of an expert, club members will learn about e-marketing, as they promote their videos on-line.
A little about me...
I have worked in the entertainment industry for (20)+ years as a Producer and Production Manager. (Nickelodeon, NBC, MTV, Golf Channel, Disney, on and on) and have recently moved "back home" to Merritt Island to slow down and commit my time to family and love. However, I can't sit totally still. I want to give everything that I have learned during my career, toward the greater good and help teens who strive to be better........but, I don't want them to have to pay.
The more donations received, the more teens we can accommodate and the "bigger/better" we can do the program by booking more experts to mentor the teens and, having more equipment/technology for more learning experiences. OPUS is constantly changing and evolving, striving to be better.
