One Hit Wonder

One Hit Wonder is a short 15-minute film, produced by a group of 8, third-year students from Temasek Polytechnic studying a diploma in Digital Film and Television.

Synopsis:
When a group of migrant workers unexpectedly go viral as street performers, they ride the wave of newfound fame. As they grapple with their identity and societal expectations, they must find a way to reclaim their authenticity and prove that they are more than just a label.

One Hit Wonder is a light-hearted drama about about a group of migrant workers' journey of kinship, identity and aspirations.

Message:

One Hit Wonder delves into the perspective of our characters who wish to pursue their dreams, showing the audience that they are more to know about them than the hard labour and exhaustion they experience 6 days a week. For this film, we wish to break the negative stereotypes that have been put upon migrant workers, and portray them in a positive light, showing that they have their own aspirations and dreams too.

What happens after the film?

All proceeds will go into the making of this film for our final year project. All donors will be mentioned as a "Special Thanks" in our credit roll.

Upon completing the film, it will be screened at the highly coveted Temasek Polytechnic Design Show 2024, happening in March 2024. At this event, visitors internationally and locally will come down to watch these student films, providing aspiring filmmakers opportunities to broaden their horizons with experienced professionals in the field.
