Once in a lifetime opportunity

An old friend contacted me a few months ago and asked if I would like to come to Australia for 3 weeks and visit her. No one in my family (my parents included) have ever been out of the country and seeing that I hadn't seen her in 10+ years, I of course jumped at the chance.  I am a teacher, I love my job with all my heart but as you know, teachers teach for the love not the money. So, knowing our finanical postion, she kindly offered to help me get there.   As I was excitely telling/asking/begging my husband to let me go, he reminded me of a pretty big problem. I have diabetes. While I do have it under control most of the time, what if something happened on the long plane ride or while I was there? I would need to take someone with me in case of an emergency.  Right away I thought of my daughter, Amber.  I  knew that she would be able to handle any medical emergency I might have so, we made the decision that she would join me as my emergency companion.   I had told Amber that she would have to save at least half of the money in order to go so,  Amber went out to every store or resturant in our area and filled out job applications.  It was the same answer at every place she went to, "You need to have experience."  I always knew what the voice on the other end of the phone had said by the dejected look on her face.  I told her just keep trying, I was saving money too.  But, what always happens when you have money set aside for something? You know it, the car broke down, needed new tires, one of the kids would get sick...you know the saying, "When it rains, it pours?" Well, we had quite the deluge for a while. We were feeling pretty saddened by the fact that it was looking like neither one of us was going to be able to go but then , I came across this site.  We thought maybe if we came here and told our story, there would be wonderful people kind enough to help make our dream come true.  This will probably be our only chance to ever go to Australia.  We are trying to pay for as much as we can, we just need some help  paying for the flight.  You will never know how much we appreciate any little bit.  If each person just donated $1- $10 it would be a huge help.
