I wish I didn’t have to make this campaign, but due to the unforeseen trials and tribulations of 2020 and this unexpected ailment - I come to you vulnerable as hell to ask for your help!

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Amanda “Biebs.” I have a 3 year old boxer named Nova who is not only my best friend, but my entire life. Nova is just like any other rambunctious boxer. She loves to play, wiggle her butt at everyone she meets, & give big slobbery kisses. She has saved my life on more than one occasion, and I will do anything to make sure I can provide a happy and comfortable life for her throughout her remaining years.

After a puppy play date with the neighbors dog back in January, I noticed she was limping on her back leg. I figured maybe a good nights sleep would help, but it had only gotten worse in the morning.

After our first set of X-rays it was determined that Nova has what is called “hip dysplasia.” Hip dysplasia is when the ball and socket joint of the hip do not fit properly, and they rub and grind instead of sliding smoothly. This results in deterioration over time and an eventual loss of function of the joint itself. This painful condition can drastically reduce a dog’s quality of life and is difficult for owners to watch.

However, after our first appointment with an orthopedic specialist the surgeon stated that she believes the lameness in her left leg and limp is due to a torn Cranial Cruciate Ligament ( CCL) which is the equivalent to the ACL in humans. I was also told that her right CCL is partially torn, and that more often than not both knees typically require surgery as it’s a bilateral degenerative disease.

The only real “fix” for torn CCL’s and hip dysplasia is surgery. Now the specialist did say that she believes repairing the CCL and stabilizing the knee could be enough, and that she may not need a total hip replacement.

With that being said, I am trying to plan for surgery ASAP. However, I was furloughed and laid off from all of my jobs back in March 2020 & have been on a financial rollercoaster ever since. My unemployment is still being withheld and I’m unsure when I will see any of those funds. I have been working on side projects and under the table gigs to make ends meet, but that has barely been enough to cover my rent and bills. So I am asking for financial support as I cannot afford this surgery on my own at this time.

If you are able to help me and Nova out in any way, I would be forever grateful. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any support, love, and prayers at this time and promise to keep everyone updated.
