No One Fights Alone

Michelle's family and friends are coming together to raise money to help with her battle against adrenocortical carcinoma.
Michelle had been dealing with a severe pain in her lower back. After going through many options to deal with the pain she finally made an appointment with an orthopedic.(Dr. Cuartas) After a few days of testing and appointments, she found out the pain in her back was a tumor. To make light of the situation she was in, she named this mass 'Walter' . No one expected this mass to be cancerous, she was too young, showed no symptoms and there is no one in her family who had cancer, it just wasn't fair. On June 18th, at only the age of 25, Michelle's life changed when she found out that 'Walter' (the mass) was in fact cancer and he had 'friends'. Michelle's testing showed that the cancer had spread to parts of her spine, hips, femurs, liver and adrenal gland. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Adrenocorical Carcinoma, this type of cancer is so rare it only effects 2 in a million people. Because her cancer is so rare and complicated it will only respond to intense and aggressive radiation and chemotherapy. Since her initial diagnoses, Michelle has been in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, where she has undergone a week's worth of radiation on 'Walter' and surgery on her right leg to prevent it from breaking. On July 24th, Michelle was released from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center with an extensive array of prescriptions to keep her pain in control and to keep her comfortable. She will meet with her oncologist on Friday July 26 to see what the next steps will be in treating her cancer. Michelle is a strong young woman. If you know her, you know she is a ball of fire! She is independent, smart, funny, and tough as nails. She has the spirit to fight her cancer, but needs everyones help to win! It is important that Michelle and her family focus all of their energy and strength on winning this battle. We are raising money to offset/assist with these expenses. Our hope is that we alleviate that financial burden so Michelle can concentrate on getting better. 'No One Fights Alone'
