About the campaign

The goal of the campaign is to raise funds to set up a space for the activities of the We Are Not Alone association, since up to now all our work and activities have been organized and coordinated from the kitchen of the head of the association. In 2020 we were assigned a space of 46.20 m2 we could use, at Boškovićeva Street 7b, but that space is in poor condition and we need to renovate it and install central heating. Currently we do not have any available funds to do that. We do have the renovation project, donated to us by the Lotus Group – Lotus Architect, led by the world-famous architect Maja Bručić.

Our association cares for over 100 women with cancer. Please help us to provide them with a space where they can socialize, learn, share experience and get support. Support our efforts to give vulnerable groups a space where they will not feel alone.

About us

The We Are Not Alone association was established in March 2017 with the aim to promote and improve all forms of cancer prevention, especially in women, to support cancer patients and their families, offer education and better flow of information to the patients, as well as to raise awareness about the importance of prevention to improve the quality of treatment and the social status of affected women and the protection of health in general.

The association is led and founded by Ivana Kalogjera, a journalist who is a cancer survivor and who wanted to encourage some changes within the society. The most famous project of the We Are Not Alone association is a unique social service where free taxi rides are offered to women who need to get to their chemotherapies in hospitals in Zagreb: You are not alone – don’t ride on your own!“ The project was implemented in cooperation with the Radio Taxi Zagreb association, and the services have so far been used by 367 women from all over Croatia. To cover the costs, our association organized eight large-scale humanitarian events and thereby collected over one million kuna. We are especially proud of the fact that we all volunteer on this project.

Most of the members of the association are former and current cancer patients, and all of our campaigns arose from personal experience. We also made a video on the importance of breast self-examination, with famous singer and presenter Ida Prester. The video has been viewed more than 200,000 times and saved multiple lives.

We Are Not Alone is a partner on the project of free household assistance to cancer patients „Women for Women“, fully funded by the European Social Fund. The project is coordinated by the vice president of the association, Goranka Perc, famous for her Camino de Santiago walk in 2018. She dedicated her 900-kilometer-long journey to women cancer patients.

The association is currently implementing the „I am not giving up“ campaign, dedicated to women with metastatic breast cancer.
