Nave Industries: a visionary college student startup

Have you ever been at the beach and wanted to just dive in and explore the beautiful underwater world of the fishes and coral reefs?  Many of us have been enthralled by the seductiveness of the water at one time or another, but with SCUBA training costing upwards of $350 and a full set of diving gear around another $1500, many people simply content themselves to boogey board or perhaps snorkel.  Or perhaps you even have received your SCUBA training, but are annoyed by the limitations of short dive durations and pesky bubbles that always seem to scare away the fish.  Our product, currently in the prototype development phase, is a revolutionary breathing system; at a tenth of the weight and a small fraction of the size of current diving gear, our all-in-one dive mask offers extreme operational simplicity while also extending dive times and decreasing noise and bubble disturbances.

Our product would have applications not only in recreational diving, which is already estimated to have over 5 million constituents in the United States alone, but also in military and technical diving as well as in other situations requiring portable air supplies such as fire-fighting and medical supplies.  

My team and I, current NYU students, are working to build a business that will deliver this technology to the people to give everyone the opportunity to explore and appreciate our watery world; to help relieve difficult situations by making medical oxygen supplies that are smaller, less obtrusive, and cheaper; and to also save lives by cutting 30 pounds from a fire-fighter's load to allow him to save another life in time.  The money donated here will help us complete our product development and establish a manufacturing basis so that we can turn this concept into reality.
