Campaign Story
The truth is we never really closed our nATANDA Studio. We simply couldn’t afford to shut the gates on the dancers in our community. After spending years keeping children and young adults safe from drugs and trouble on the streets through our leisure dance programs, we were determined not to let them stray into questionable activities. With the number of COVID-19 cases we kept our program of teaching and training running online , our public performances had to close. The COVID 19 restrictions meant no tourist arrivals, NO corporate events for international and local audiences, and a massive reduction in our social enterprise activities. This has erased all our budgeted revenues for this year and for the foreseeable future with very serious consequences. In order to keep our nATANDA dancers safe and engaged we have had to deplete our financial reserves at a very rapid rate.
We need your support like never before.
Our senior dancers are working harder than ever to stay in touch with students and their families. They have been providing online ballet classes to relieve the depression of the most disadvantaged young people, many of whom who are locked inside their homes for long periods. This is ever more critical at this time of great uncertainty. Our senior dancers have had to put themselves under enormous pressure.Thankfully, starting last August , our ballet school was able to re-open along with the public school, and now follows strict hygiene and physical distancing procedures. It was a relief for our dancers to be back in their classrooms and the children were also thrilled to be back at their ballet classes, albeit the face shields and distance seating will take somegetting used to.
NOW WE HAVE HAD TO CLOSE AGAIN DUE TO NEW COVID RESTRICTIONS
I would like to appeal to you to support this Back to Dance Studio campaign, and help us keep our dancers working and our youth safe in their programs and their classes. We can’t let this pandemic rob them of their creation and futures.
